Room Reveal: Amelie's Room

I’m delighted to be able to share Amelie’s new room on the blog today.

This room design was an e-design package, which means the design work was all done over the phone or online using photos and measurements taken by Amelie’s mum.  This is a really easy and affordable way of accessing a professional interior designer.  I designed a mood board, room visuals and floor plan which together with a product sourcing list and room styling advice meant that Amelie's parents could implement the design in their own time.

I don’t always get to see the end result when I work on e-designs but luckily for me Amelie’s family live locally and invited me back to see the finished room, and I think you’ll agree they’ve done a great job implementing the design:

And here's the AFTER:

Amelie is a fun, energetic 2-year old and the brief was to create a scandi-style room with pops of colour and not too much pink that would suit Amelie now, but that she wouldn’t grow out of too quickly.  Amelie is still sleeping in her cot bed but will soon transition into a big girl bed (good luck with that mum!) so I designed her room with the Flexa Play Single Bed in mind, and in the near future her cot bed will be switched out for her new bed.

Once we’d chosen the furniture, we zoned the room using a diagonal paint effect in Farrow and Ball Teresa’s Green, to define the sleeping area.  This is a gorgeous calming soft green colour and provides a great backdrop for the pops of yellow and pink used in the rest of the room.  (The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that the diagonals are designed to fit in with the height of the single bed rather than the cot bed).

Elsewhere, the room needed a new black-out blind and carpet which we kept nice and neutral in grey.  We switched out an old light fitting for a simple but elegant pendant shade from Made.com but added a bright yellow flex to add some colour.

We then used artwork on picture hangers, lots of natural wood, textiles and some beautiful accessories throughout to really add to the Scandi-style of this room.  And once Amelie moves into her single bed, her new bedding and cushions will give this room another dimension.

So what do you think?  I'd love to hear in the comments below.  I really hope you all enjoyed seeing the end result as much as I did.
