Holly's parents asked for my help to design a more grown up room for Holly who has just turned 6. Whilst a good sized room with lots of light, the room lacked storage, felt cluttered and the layout meant there was very limited floor space for Holly to play. The decor was in need of updating and whilst Holly loves colour (pinks, purples and greens), mum and dad still wanted to retain a classic scheme in keeping with the rest of their home.
We chose the Cole & Son Punchinello wallpaper in muted pastel tones which brings lots of pretty colours into the room without being over the top and kept two of the walls in ivory to give the room a relaxed vibe. We kept her existing Great Little Trading Company bed and desk as they were recent purchases, but replaced her freestanding wardrobe and drawers with built in storage under the eaves to maximise space.
To improve the layout, we moved the bed against the far wall to maximise floor space, and moved the desk against a wall so Holly can utilise the wall space above it to display her arts and crafts. We then accessorised with lots of pink, and of course unicorns and mermaids to create Holly's dream room.
Watch out for images of the completed room coming soon on my blog...
